You will alternate between smiles and tears as Charlie Brakebill tells us his World War II story of a chance encounter and blossoming relationship with a lovely French girl, an innocent love affair that ended with the war’s end. He married happily, raised a family, and had a successful career, yet the memory of Alhemette Guillard stayed with him. Learn about Charlie’s long search to locate her some 65 years later. A native of Madisonville, Tennessee, Charlie is retired as vice-president of development at the University of Tennessee. He will be accompanied by his long-time friend Jack E. Williams, who has aided him in the search and helped to describe the saga in a book.
The program is sponsored by the Harriet Z. Albers Memorial Fund and is free and open to the public. Guests are invited to bring a “Brown Bag” lunch and enjoy the lecture. Soft drinks will be available for purchase. For more information on the lecture, exhibitions, or museum hours, call 865-215-8824.
