Description
Spanning 200+ years, Knoxville's Church Street United Methodist Church has weathered some of the most divisive and profound local, national, and international historical conflicts and events. Learn more about this church's storied past and how it informs present challenges in a presentation by Dwight Wade. His book Unfinished Journey will be available for purchase and signing. It was published in 2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic hit the U.S. and shut down the church building for more than a year. This program is one in a series of Zoom Brown Bag programs and Saturday lectures to be offered this spring and summer, sponsored by the Albers Family Foundation in memory of Harriet Z. Albers and by Gentry-Griffey Funeral Home in Knoxville. The East Tennessee Historical Society is privileged to share regional history with our members and the public.
About the Speaker
Dr. Dwight Wade is a Sevier County native, retired Knoxville physician, avid student of regional and local history, and, since 2015, the official historian of Church Street United Methodist Church in downtown Knoxville.
