Kent C. and Martha A. Withers

Community Leader and established Friendship House at Helen Ross McNabb Center

Kent and Martha Anne Withers lived a life marked by commitment to others and to family. The list of charitable organizations touched by their giving reached into almost every sector of the community. Accepting no credit for themselves, they pointed to their faith as an inspiration. Kent was a native of Pennsylvania, while his wife, Martha Anne Rogers, was from a prominent Hamblen County, Tennessee, family.

Their gift is to the East Tennessee Historical Society Foundation endowment. A list of their other favorite interests included Lakeshore, Child and Family Services, United Way, Goodwill, Webb School, St. John’s Episcopal Church, and the Knoxville Chapter of the Garden Club of America.
